Emily Rath, a 24 year old singer/songwriter based in the Bay Area, recently graduated from UC Santa Barbara and is well on her way into an exciting musical career. She was a member of UC Santa Barbara’s only co-ed a cappella group for all four years of college and previously a member of the Marin based a cappella group ‘Til Dawn in high school, directed by the critically-acclaimed singer/songwriter, Austin Willacy.
Throughout her teens until now she has performed at songwriter showcases, opened for musicians such as Jason Reeves, Tyler Ward, Delta Rae and Lissie, and has performed at venues such as the Hotel Utah in San Francisco, George's Night Club in San Rafael and the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley. Emily’s music is of a contemporary pop/rock sound with powerful melodies & lyrics. She is an avid songwriter and a passionate performer. Her second EP Afterglow is now available on itunes, featuring the talented guitarist, Miles Schon, son of Journey's guitarist Neal Schon.
In January 2012, Emily won Best Song for her original "Four Leaf Clover" in San Rafael at the West Coast Songwriter Competition and in June 2012, she won Best Performance for another original at the West Coast Songwriter Berkeley Chapter Competition. In Aug. 2012, Emily's song "Get Out" from her second EP was featured on San Francisco's renowned radio station, KFOG 104.5FM throughout the month of august for their local scene month. The song was also featured on KFOG's local scene CD 9, where all proceeds went to music in schools. In October of 2012, Emily performed a segment of original music for Bay Area local TV Channel 22, KRCB, which aired twice that month.
