NBPS - What's it all about?
The Northbay Poetry Slam was first created in 2010 and has been bringing amazing talent to Sebastopol, CA every since. Poets of all ages and levels of experience are welcome to share the stage. The Northbay Poetry Slam takes place every month, always on a Sunday, at HopMonk Tavern Sebastopol.
The first part on the evening is the Open Mic, where anyone and everyone are welcome to sign up to share their own poems or other people poems. This is not a scored event and no prizes are given. Any one wishing to participate in the open mic must sign up at 8:00pm the night of the event.
The second part of the evening is our featured poet. One poet or a group of poets perform a 25-minute set of original work for the audience. These poets are generally national touring poets or those who have won past competition and are always amazing and awe inspiring. If one is interesting in featuring they can send samples of their work to Brianna at Brianna.marie.sage@gmail.com
The Third and final part of the evening is the Poetry Slam. One may sign up the night of the event at 8pm. The poetry slam is timed and scored by 5 random judges from the audience. There is 3 rounds to the slam, a poet does one poem per a round with a 3 minute and 10 second time limit. The top three poets with the highest points at the end of the 3rd round are the winners.
