More Information
Jon Gonzales Stringband showcases ukulele rhythms, kazoo-buzzings, and original indie-pop diddies from Jon Gonzales' first solo album, Water 'n Whiskey. Accompanied by vocalist Hannah Jern-Miller, bassist Michael Bryant, and mandolinist Bill Iberti, Jon has created original melodies in conjunction with the ukulele's magical charm and chimey plings. The former HQ singer/songwriter/guitarist brings forth a style true to his influences (U2, Dylan, Stones, Motown, Sublime), providing a hook-folkish pulse.
An English teacher-by-day, Mr. Gonzales has a fancy for anything Tom Robbins, Khalil Gibran, Barbara Kingsolver, Paolo Coelho and/or Willie Nelson, who've all helped induce Jon's own blend of diction 'n melody, imagination 'n realism, water 'n whiskey, buzz 'n chime, and the plight of the human paradox.
Of late, JG has had various songs from Water 'n Whiskey aired on 95.9 KRSH, has particapted in both the 2012 Wine Country Ukulele Festival in St. Helena and the recent gathering at the Sebastopol Community Center, as well as heightened publicity in the North Bay Bohemian and Sonoma West Times.
Jon Gonzales Stringband's unique style of ukulele mixed with vocal harmonies and stringed energy is sure to leave you quite "uked".
